NEWBORN: FAQ
WHEN SHOULD I BOOK A NEWBORN SESSION?
In order to guarantee a spot on our calendar, it is best to book your session while still in the 2nd trimester. We do everything we can to squeeze in last minute requests, however this is not always possible.
ARE FAMILY MEMBERS INCLUDED IN THIS SESSION?
Depending on the type of session you book, family members can be added to a newborn session. The last 30 minutes of the session are set aside to include a few family/ sibling shots.
WHAT IS THE PERFECT AGE FOR NEWBORN PORTRAITS?
Newborn sessions typically take place within the first 2 weeks of birth. Since the actual arrival of your baby is unpredictable, space is reserved on our calendar for around the time of your due date. Once baby arrives, we will then schedule a date/time for the session to take place.
Preemie babies have a longer window of time to be photographed and still be able to achieve the newborn look and feel of a session.
WHEN ARE NEWBORN SESSION SCHEDULED?
Newborn sessions are generally scheduled on WEEKDAYS at 10 or 11 AM ET. They are held in my studio and last 1- 3 hours, please be prepared to plan accordingly.
WHAT SHOULD BABY AND OR FAMILY WEAR?
For baby I will have everything available for your session, you may choose from a large variety of outfits, head bands, bonnets, hats etc. With that being said if you have something special you would like to add please bring along. As for family I suggest wearing light, neutral clothing to ensure that the focus of the session remains on the baby. Avoid large patterns, prints and logos.
HOW DO YOU POSE THE BABY? WILL MY BABY BE COMFORTABLE DURING THE SESSION?
Safety and keeping your baby comfy is so important. With years of experience with babies which allows the baby to lead in what is most comfortable position for your baby. No posing is forced, it truly is up to what the baby is comfortable with, and no two babies are the same. The studio is kept at a warm temperature to ensure your baby is comfy during your session.
**These are just a few question that are commonly asked for newborn portraits more detailed information will be given during the pre-consultation. When photographing newborns so much goes into these sessions and there is a lot of information to share~

- I constantly clean and sanitize my camera and lenses – they get a lot of use!

- I never have and never will photograph a session if I am not feeling well or running a fever – and I ask you do the same
- MASKS: IN STUDIO~ Mask are no longer required, however if you feel more comfortable with me wearing one I will do so, please just ask.
